The Top 40 Sophomore Albums of the Rock 'n' Roll Era...
…that are better than the artist’s debut album. They do not have to be rock ‘n’ roll albums, just sophomore albums from the rock ‘n’ roll album era, which began with the Beatles debut in 1963. And let me reiterate my first qualifier: the albums must be even BETTER THAN THE ARTIST’S DEBUT ALBUM. Final caveat: I didn’t include the obvious hip-hop sophomore bangers like “It Takes a Nation of Millions…”, “The Low End Theory,” “Paul’s Boutique,” “The Marshall Mathers LP,” “Late Registration,” “Good Kid M.A.A.D City”, and “Channel Orange” because as I argued at the beginning of my top 60 debut albums list, hip-hop deserves its own list, and I’m not qualified to create it.
