The 10 Best Bob Dylan Outtakes Not Released at the Time They Were Recorded
Share

I had a dream last night that we lost Bob Dylan. I hope it was not a premonition, but regardless, we will lose him some day. It got me thinking about all the incredible outtakes from Dylan’s dozens of albums, songs that most songwriters would kill for that he just threw away, gave away to others, or didn’t release officially until long after they were recorded. (I added the caveat “not released at the time they were recorded,” because “Positively 4th Street” was an outtake from Highway 61 Revisited, but it was released as a non-LP single and is one of Dylan’s most famous songs from the 1960s.)

If you’re a big Dylan fan, as I am, then you’ll know most of these songs; but if you’re a casual Dylan fan, like many music lovers, then you won’t; and maybe these songs will inspire you to dig deeper and realize what you’ve been missing all these years. And if you’re not a Dylan fan, well then may god have mercy on your soul.
