The great thing about GBV is you could do the same for songs between 90 seconds and 2 minutes and have another fantastic batch of songs. Also, is "A Salty Salute" their best opening track?
Agree there are another, bigger batch of awesome Pollard songs from 90-120 seconds long. And hundreds of great 2-3 minute songs. It’s unfathomable how he almost never had a year without a bunch of great new songs.
Best opening tracks on GBV albums include, for me: Over the Neptune/Mesh Gear Fox, A Salty Salute, Teenage FBI, Fair Touching, My Kind of Soldier, 5 degrees on the inside, Space Gun, The Race is On, the King is Dead, and 1-2 others I’m sure I’m forgetting.

Those are excellent choices. All of this reminds me I need to spend more time with Universe Room.

Not gonna lie: Universe Room is the first GBV album by this lineup that doesn’t have any songs I love.
