China Crisis were part of the new wave of British bands from Liverpool in the 80s that included OMD, Echo & the Bunnymen, Flock of Seagulls, and Frankie Goes to Hollywood. While they had success in the UK (four top twenty singles and two gold albums, including this one,) they never crossed over in the U.S. the way these other bands did.
